“Dax the Drip Pony”
Tiny Tale by Dustin Bailard

The shrieks of a thousand warlocks swept over the
Caldune Deserts sands.
There had never been one that managed to reach Dax. This was comforting to her tonight as she watched Afriel’s three moons align.

Soon her coats colors began to shift. The soft hues of blue and pink swirled together. They dripped down her four legs until she looked like she was standing in a bowl of flavored milk. This little pastel universe glowed with the magic of life and anything it was painted in would have breath.
Suddenly small shadows surrounded the puddle. You couldn’t see them but you could hear them taking tiny sips.
Dax watched the shadows lovingly as pink and blue kittens began to be painted from the inside out. Once fully furred and visible they mewed a thanks and scampered back to their dark mountain.
The warlocks shrieks grew louder at this. How could kittens be lapping up their elixir of life!? Surely the grotesque massive beasts they had hoped to erect would be greater than kittens?! What magnificent terrors would come from these bits of fluff?!
They had all attempted to steal her magic at one point and ended up trapped inside the jagged rocks that guarded her. These rocks are now known as “The Warlocks Blades.”
Once she stopped dripping Dax strolled among the angry thieves. Each one glared out at her. As she stared back at them she thought ,“ why should life be any less impressive as a kitten? Big changes can happen in small ways. “
Soon she heard the final mew. Dax looked back over her shoulder at the bowl of wet sand that was once a puddle. She smiled watching the last puffball disappear into the desert night.
The rocks were quite now. Her tail was the only sound left, it dragged behind her leaving a trail of glittering sand. Gently she touched the sharp edges of the rocks. “My poor warlocks, she whispered, the only life you’ve taken is yours.”

The End.
